Home Business Tips – Believe Half of What You Hear
Filed under: Home Business, Internet Marketing, Make Money Online; Tagged as: home base business, home based business tips, home business articles, starting a home businessNo CommentsEverybody has their own ideas on how a home based business should be run. Every Tom, Dick and Harry is an expert after doing this stuff for a few months. After all, how hard is it really? Well, if it’s so easy, why is the failure rate somewhere around 95%? Truth is, very few people REALLY know what’s involved when it comes to running a home business. So when you take advice from someone, believe only half of what you hear. This article is going to explain how you SHOULD go about running your home business.
For starters, the most important thing you need to realize is that not all home businesses are alike. Each one is unique and therefore each one has to be run differently. That’s why when somebody says, “You have to do things THIS way,” they really don’t know what they’re talking about. Somebody who is selling digital information products is not going to run their business the same way as a person who is running a monthly membership site. They are two completely different business models and therefore have to be run differently.
When somebody tells you that you have to spend a certain amount of money each month to run your business, this is also not true. Some businesses can literally be run for pennies each month while others take hundreds, if not thousands of dollars. Do you REALLY think I spend anywhere near as much money each month on my business as a company like Amazon? I can’t even fathom what kind of expenses they have each month. Heck, they probably spend more in a day than I make in a month. So don’t believe that you have to lock yourself into a certain expense model.
Ultimately, what it comes down to is testing what works for you. As my business began to grow, I eventually discovered that I had to outsource certain things because I simply didn’t have the time to do them myself anymore. So this was an added expense for me. I then had to see if the expense was justified based on how much money I was bringing in. If the expense was greater than the income, I would have probably eliminated that part of my business model.
So when somebody says to you that you MUST do something a certain way, take the advice with a grain of salt. Because unless they know your business model inside and out, they’re just guessing.
And nobody should run their business on guesswork.
