Home Business Tips – Do You Have to Be Smart to Run a Home Business?
Filed under: Home Business, Internet Marketing, Make Money Online; Tagged as: home base business, home based business tips, home business articles, starting a home business1 CommentDo you have to be smart to run a home business? It’s a simple question. Unfortunately, it doesn’t come with a simple answer. The answer actually depends on certain factors. In this article, I am going to explain why it may actually be possible to run a home business, even if you’re a dumb as a stump. And trust me, I am NO rocket scientist.
Let’s look at running a home business logically. Most people, especially those just starting out, run it themselves. It’s a one man operation that answers to nobody but the person at the computer. Therefore, every decision that’s made is made by that ONE person. The decision making process in itself does require you to have at least a little something between your two ears. Otherwise, any decision made is going to have a high probability of failure.
However, having said that, this doesn’t mean that people who want to run their own business have to have a load of smarts because there is no law that says they have to run their business alone. For that matter, they don’t even have to set it up alone. To that end, there are a couple of options.
Option number one, and the more expensive one, is to hire a business manager. I’m talking about somebody who really has business smarts. Tell this person what you want to do and have them advise you on the best way to do it AND actually go through the process of setting it up and running it. Finding somebody who is worth their salt in this matter is not easy. And once you do find somebody, if they are worth their salt, they are going to cost you a pretty penny. Therefore, this option is not viable to many people just starting out unless they have a ton of capital to spend.
Option number two is to get one of those ready made businesses in a box. This is a business that has been proven to work. All you need to do is follow some simple steps which are usually taught through a training program. This isn’t much different from somebody buying a McDonald’s franchise. The franchise has already proven to work. All you need to do is learn how to run the place. A business in the box is the same thing.
However, there are downsides to a business in a box. For starters, you really have no way of knowing which ones are any good. Some are actually very bad and won’t produce a lick worth of income. Another downside is that the very nature of a business in a box, with few exceptions, means it’s not unique, therefore, takes a lot more work than a regular business to get off the ground…not that it can’t be done.
Bottom line is this. You don’t have to be a rocket scientist to run a successful home business. If you can follow simple step by step instructions, you’ve got a good shot at success.

Dear Steven.
I have always been interested on running my own ‘business’. I am a youth soccer coach at a school for 20 yrs. and a freelance masseur. But both of these do not give me good regular income. I even joined a multi-level marketing company but finding it difficult to sell my product. Maybe because of the economic crisis or the items are double the price you get from the store. I can go back to a 9-5 job, as a draftsman, but I really want to run a small but successful bussiness. What should I do?
