Home Business Tips – Getting Ready For the Fall
Filed under: Home Business, Internet Marketing, Make Money Online; Tagged as: home base business, home based business tips, home business articles, starting a home businessNo CommentsWell, the slow summer months are almost behind us. People are going to be coming back home from vacation and getting back to work. There will be more people to sell to, especially if your home business involves selling to people looking to make a living online. So the question is, what can you do to get ready for the fall? This article is going to cover a few things that I regularly do to make sure my home business does well down the home stretch of the year.
First thing I do is take a look at how much I’ve made through August year to date. I then subtract that amount from my goal for the year. That tells me how much I still have to make to hit that goal in the next four months. I then divide that by four and that tells me how much I have to make monthly. I then divide that by 30 and that tells me how much I have to make daily. Knowing how much I have to make daily tells me how many sales I have to make each day.
I then look at my advertising budget. Let’s say I have to make $300 a day and my average sale goes for $30. That means I have to make 10 sales per day. If I know that I can make two sales for every 100 clicks I get and it costs me $10 to get those 100 clicks, I’ll spend $50 to get my 500 clicks and make my 10 sales. That still gives me a net income of $250 per day. If I want to make more than that, I’ll simply spend more on advertising. If I don’t have the money for advertising or don’t want to spend it, I’ll figure out how many articles I have to write to get the same amount of traffic.
Finally, I’ll project what my traffic is going to be like based on past performance. I’ve been doing this for over six years so it’s pretty easy to do. Naturally, if this is your first year in business, you have no past data to go on and my date won’t be of any use to you because everybody’s business model is different. But look at how you did the first eight months of the year. You will notice that there have been highs and lows. For most people, unless they’re in a niche that’s big during the holidays (like toys) you’re going to have a slow November and December. So plan accordingly.
Bottom line is this. You’ve just had two months of slow traffic, if you’re like most people. The fall months are the ones to jump on and make up for it. Don’t wait for them to come to you. YOU have to make the first move.
