I read the horror stories every single day. Guy’s making good money with his home business and then he wakes up one morning and it’s all gone. Are you in the same boat? Can it happen to you? Is your home business one click from a wipe out? If you’re not sure, you might want to read this article. It just might save YOUR home business from extinction.

First, let me tell you the latest horror story. This particular person (no names mentioned) was making very good money selling ClickBank products. This is actually a very common home business model that many people use. I use it to some degree myself in addition to other things that I do. The problem is, this person built his home business on another person’s real estate. Okay, if that’s a little confusing for you, let me explain.

If you’re running the typical home business, you’re using a web site. After all, you need to have a place for potential customers to come to. A web site is the most logical choice if you’re running an Internet home business, which most people do. Well, there are two choices as far as web sites go. You can actually buy your own domain and get your own hosting OR you can use one of those free sites that some companies provide for you. There are pros and cons to each.

If you buy your own domain and get your own hosting, you own it. Nobody but the hosting company can shut you down, and then ONLY if you violate their terms of service. And then even if you do, you can always take your domain to another hosting company. So you really can’t lose it. The downside is that there is an expense to hosting your own domain. If you’re broke or on a limited budget, this may be difficult to do.

If you use somebody else’s virtual real estate (VRE) on the plus side, there is usually no cost. However, and this is what happened to this particular person, if for whatever reason they don’t like what you’re doing on their site, they can take it away from you without warning. This person had this very thing happen to him. He had a number of free sites and for whatever reason, they were all shut down.

Yes…it happens. In fact, it happens more often than you want to know. So, here is my question to you. Is your home business utilizing somebody else’s site. If so, your home business is at risk, whether you want to believe it or not. So you need to sit down and decide if saving the few bucks a month it costs for hosting and a domain is worth losing your business over.

Better decide soon before what happens to this poor guy happens to you.
