One of the most difficult things about starting and running a home business is knowing who to take advice from. There are so many con artists out there that it’s a virtual mine field. Well, this article is going to share some common sense advice that I hope will help you through this problem. Hopefully, after reading this, you’ll have a decent idea of who to listen to and who to ignore like the plague.

For starters, why do we even need to listen to anybody’s advice? Well, if you’re just starting out, you probably have no clue where to even begin. I know I didn’t. So getting a mentor or coach, or even just somebody to talk to in order to get some advice would be nice. I know it sure helped me a lot. Problem is, where do you go? Who do you turn to? How can you tell if the person is going to be able to help you or not? How can you tell if you’re going to get taken? Lots of questions. Here are some answers.

If somebody has any kind of a reputation as a marketer, you’re going to hear about it. Trust me on this. That means there is info on the Internet on this person. And the best place to find this info is at Google. If you were to go there and look up my name, you’d probably find about 40,000 pages about me. This is a good place to start. Look up the person’s name and see if there is anything bad written about them. Sure, there are always going to be a few people who aren’t happy with someone, but if you find page after page of complaints, there’s a problem.

The next step is to actually contact the person and ask for some details about their success. Ask for proof that can’t be disputed. With how easy it is to fake things these days, this is one area where you really have to go with your gut. Listen to the way the person communicates with you. See if they’re trying to sell you on something or if they’re being so straight with you that they’re trying to scare you off. I tell people right up front that making money online is not easy and takes a lot of work. This scares off about 95% of the people who contact me because they want a push button solution to their problem.

Finally, look and see what sites and blogs they have online. See what comments are on them. See what info they release for free. Try some of it out and see how it works for you. If you find you get results, there is a good chance that this person knows what they’re talking about.

It’s not foolproof, but if you follow the above steps, you give yourself a great chance of hooking up with somebody who can really help you.

    To YOUR Success,
