Home Business Tips – Not For Everybody
Filed under: Home Business, Internet Marketing, Make Money Online; Tagged as: home base business, home based business tips, home business articles, starting a home businessNo CommentsWhat you are about to read may disturb you greatly, especially if the cold hard truth is hard for you to swallow. See, running a home business is not for everybody. Honestly, I’m starting to think that it’s not for many people at all. If you’re wondering why I have come to this conclusion, you’ll get your answers from reading this article…if you have the stomach for it.
To understand where I’m coming from, you have to understand the mindset of the average person in this country. This may or may not apply to people who live outside the US. In this country, we’re taught to go to school, get a good education and then, go out and get a good “secure” job. Stay there for 45 years and then retire with a gold watch and a nice pension to Florida. If that sounds like a stereotype, it is. And the reason it is, is because it’s the truth. That’s how we’re brought up. That’s what we’re told IS the right way.
So now imagine somebody trying to break away from that mold and trying to start their own home business. For starters, education really doesn’t matter much. Oh sure, you still need the basic skills of reading and writing. But forget about a formal degree. It’s not necessary to start your own business. If anything, it might even end up hurting you as you’re probably not used to “out of the box” thinking.
Then of course there is the job itself. In the “real” world, you punch a clock. You have to be at work at a certain time and you can’t leave until the work day is over. The good thing is, when the work day IS over, you can go home and forget all about it. Not only that, at the end of the week, regardless of how good or bad your work is (unless it’s really bad) you get a pay check. No more for doing exceptional work and no less for doing so-so work. Those are the realities of the “job.”
Now, let’s look at your own business. For one thing, there is no clock to punch. You get up when you want and you work when you want…or don’t want. And let me tell you something, if you’re not in the mood to work that day, it’s not as easy to get motivated as you might think. Oh, but it gets better. About that paycheck? Forget it. Paychecks don’t exist when you run your own business. You only get paid when you sell a product or service for your business…whatever it may be. No sales…no money.
And THAT is the scary part for a lot of people. Sure, they can handle the self motivation (maybe) and drag themselves out of bed, but when it comes to wondering if they’re actually going to have something at the end of a week…that’s a whole other story. I mean we’re talking about the difference between eating and not eating, having a roof over your head and not having one over your head. For some people, that’s just too much pressure.
That’s why I say, running your own business is NOT for everybody. So before you dive into this head first, think about whether you wouldn’t be better off putting in your 9 to 5 and waiting for that gold watch.
Now, the solution to the problem is to keep your job and do this on the side until you can afford to quit your 9 to 5.
But that’s another story for another article.
