Home Business Tips – Some Thoughts on Business Models

If you’re running your own home business, or thinking of starting one, there are a lot of business models to choose from. And if you go through the list of them (freelancing, ebook sales, affiliate marketing, coaching, and so on) you will note that there are a number of ways to make a good living online. It isn’t like one model is better than another. However, there are some business models, in my opinion, that are more efficient than others. This article explains.

Let’s take something like freelancing where you’re writing content for other people. Lots of folks out there have businesses where they write articles for other business persons looking for content. This can actually be a very lucrative business. However, it’s not very efficient IF you’re doing all the work yourself. In fact, the only time you even get paid is WHEN you write. You don’t write, you don’t make money. It’s really almost like a job.

Now, take something like affiliate marketing where you promote other people’s products. You can set up a campaign, do a little SEO, write a few articles, maybe even setup a squeeze page and autoresponder series, and you can make money for years off that little bit of work, depending on how competitive the market is. I know some people who are making thousands monthly off of ONE article. Now THAT is an efficient business model.

Now don’t get me wrong. I am NOT knocking any business model. As I said, you can make money doing just about anything. However, you should probably look at what your priorities are BEFORE you choose a business model. Are you going into business JUST for the money OR are you going into business because you want to do something that you enjoy? If it’s JUST for the money, then you probably want to pick a business model that is efficient so that you can make the most with the least amount of effort. If you just want to enjoy what you do, then it doesn’t really matter.

The point of this article is to get you to THINK about what YOU want to do. If money is your only priority and don’t want to kill yourself to make it, then you probably don’t want to get into something like copywriting where, if you don’t write, you don’t get paid.

So sit down and think about what your priorities are.

They just might lead you to the perfect business model for YOU.

    To YOUR Success,
