Things have finally gotten way out of hand on the Internet. I’ve seen some home businesses that, quite honestly, I don’t even know how they got off the ground and weren’t shut down by the feds.This insanity has got to stop before every home business owner is painted with the same broad stroke of being a scammer. This article is going to explain in no uncertain terms. If you can’t handle the truth, I suggest you don’t read this.

Let me start off by saying that a legit home business sells a product or service. Now, if you don’t know exactly what that means, let me spell it out to you, because a lot of people seem to have a major problem with this concept.

A product is something that the consumer consumes. It can be a book, DVD, video, or even a digital download. But it has to be something that they can either hold in their hands or store on the computers in some form. That is a valid product.

What about a service? A service is where you do something for another person. It could be copywriting, video duplication, an autoresponder service, and so on. Okay, simple enough? It should be.

So, what kind of home business doesn’t fall into these two categories? Well, one that comes to mind is where you get somebody to sign up to some ambiguous program that promises to pay so much money for every person they get to sign up under them. Please tell me what the product or service is? For the life of me, I can’t figure it out. I have tried every way imaginable to justify this business model, but I just can’t.

And neither can the FTC. If you want to see tons of case histories of these “programs” getting shut down, just do a simple search online. If you think YOUR business is immune, think again. It’s not. Eventually, they WILL catch up to you just like they have with every other scheme out there.

It’s not hard to understand. If you’re not offering a product or a service, you are NOT a legitimate business.
