Steve Wagenheim’s Home Business Blog Everything You’ll Need To Run A Successful Home Business

    If you’re running a home business and want to have any chance of surviving it, you MUST take the pledge. Okay, you’re probably wondering what pledge I’m talking about. Well, it’s one that is very famous. It’s probably one you might even know, depending on what you’ve been through in your life. If you don’t know where I’m going with this, keep reading. You’ll find out.

    If you’ve been a member of AA or any other organization where people with addiction problems go, you’ve probably heard of the serenity prayer. It goes like this.

    God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change;
    courage to change the things I can;
    and wisdom to know the difference.

    Well, that’s the pledge I’m talking about when it comes to your home business. I want you to accept this as your pledge to your business. Why? Because not being able to do this will get you in more trouble than you can possibly imagine.

    There are some things, related to your home business, that you’re NOT going to be able to change no matter what you do. Most of these are outside factors that are beyond your control such as Internet regulations, tax laws and so on. You can try to get around them (many people do) but if you get caught, you’re going to regret the day that you did. Accept what’s written in stone and deal with it.

    As to the things that you CAN change…do it. If there is a problem with your sales page and it’s not converting, figure out what it is and make the necessary changes. Don’t just sit there like a lump and say, “Oh well, whatever.” No, not whatever. Your sales page stinks…fix it! Does it take courage to fix things that are broken? Darn straight it does. It’s very easy to get comfortable with the way things are. Change is scary. It’s even scarier when you have a measure of success and you’re afraid that making a change will make things worse. Hey, it might, but if you don’t try, you’ll never get any better.

    Finally, knowing the difference may be the hardest part. Some people are so pig headed that they’ll try to move a mountain with a feather duster. Some things, no matter how hard you try, you’re NOT going to change what they are. And on the other side of the coin, some people are so dense that they don’t see an opportunity when it’s staring them straight in the face. They think it ALWAYS has to be what it is. If I knew how to teach people to tell the difference between “can” and “can’t” do, I’d be a millionaire ten thousand times over.

    Bottom line is this. If you don’t get your head on straight and recognize the things in your business that are and aren’t within your control, you’re going to have a very difficult time being successful.

    To YOUR Success,
