Nobody likes to start all over. It’s probably one of the most frustrating things in the world when it comes to running your own home business. Unfortunately, there are going to be times when you will have to tear down the house you built because the foundation you built it on is collapsing before your eyes. This article is going to explain what I mean with an example and give some tips on how to go about rebuilding.

Probably the best example I can give you of a business model that was very common and very profitable years ago, which is now defunct, is the “made for AdSense” model. If you don’t recall what it was, basically the premise was simple. You created all these cheap sites for the purpose of getting AdSense income. Software was even created to crank out thousands of these at one shot.

Then Google slammed the door shut and deindexed all these garbage sites. Suddenly, home business owners who had built up a huge income with made for AdSense sites were now literally out of business. They had to tear down everything they had done and start all over. This is just one of the many examples I can give you of business models that just didn’t last long.

Okay, so what do you do when something like this happens to you? Well, here are a few tips that I hope you will take to heart.

For starters, don’t try to salvage the model. You will know when it’s time to move on. The income has completely dried up to zero. There is no way to save it and nobody with a brain will buy your business from you. At this stage, cut your losses and close up shop…quickly.

After you’ve done that, do some research on sites that have been on the Internet since the beginning of time and still making money. You can easily find out how much advertising money they’re spending by going to SpyFu. If you find a site that has been online for a long time and is spending good money on advertising, take a look at THEIR business model. Most likely, it is one that will last you a long time should you adopt it.

Finally, do as much research on the model itself as you can. Make sure you understand all the ins and outs of it. You don’t want to tackle it until you know what’s involved with making it run. The last thing you want to do, and this is a mistake so many people make, is jump into something without understanding all the risks involved. This is a sure ticket to disaster.

You need to keep your head when redoing your business. Too many people panic because their income has suddenly dried up. Stay calm and cool, do your research, and you should be able to easily come up with a business model that works for YOU.
