Most of the articles I write about running a business have to do with how to information. However, I think it’s important that I cover mindset. Why do I say this? Because believe it or not, all the how to tips in the world aren’t going to make you successful if you don’t have the right mindset. So this article is going to cover this topic briefly. I hope you get something out of it.

Why don’t we start with what the proper mindset is? The proper mindset is the one that will allow you to achieve your potential. If that sounds a little cryptic, let me explain. I have the unfortunate displeasure of having a very good friend of mine who has the wrong mindset. He is very smart and very knowledgeable, especially about music. He could have easily been a program director of any radio station. The problem is, he has the wrong mindset. He doesn’t believe he can do it. He looks at everything (his age, education, etc.) as an obstacle. He doesn’t look at what he has…only what he doesn’t have.

When I first started trying to make a living from home, I was the total opposite. I believed, without any doubt, that I was going to be successful. And when it didn’t happen right away, I was stunned. I couldn’t understand why I wasn’t having the success that I was so sure I was going to have. So I worked harder. I studied more. I kept at it until I DID have the success that I always expected to have. Today, I make six figures a year from home and I only work a few hours a day. Truth is, for me, it’s not even work anymore. I love this stuff. I can’t picture myself doing anything else.

That’s mindset. That’s how you have to go about your business. You have to believe that you’re going to be successful and you have to enjoy what you’re doing. If you look at this as a “job” then you can forget about ever having the success that you want. A job is what the OTHER guy is doing, the poor schnook who has to go work for a nasty boss because he feels like he has no other options. That’s not you. You’re the person who is going to be successful. You’re going to have everything you want. If you believe it, it will happen.

Sounds a lot like that power of positive thinking mumbo jumbo…I know. But trust me, if you don’t believe you can be successful online, you won’t be. It’s that simple.
