Home Business Tips – Who Can You Trust?
Filed under: Home Business, Internet Marketing, Make Money Online; Tagged as: home base business, home based business tips, home business articles, starting a home businessNo CommentsOne of the things most people like about running their own home business is that they don’t have to answer to a boss and don’t have to worry about other people. Unfortunately, that is only half true. While you may not have to worry about a boss hovering over your shoulder, there are going to be times when you WILL have to rely on others to get things done. When that time comes, who can you trust? This article tackles that question and provides some common sense answers.
You’re probably sitting their scratching your head wondering when you’d ever have to rely on others. After all, you’re working for yourself by yourself. Well, what about that web site you have up? You did have to get a hosting company for it, right? What’s that you say? It’s not your site? You’re just an affiliate for a program? Well what about the person who owns it? Can you trust them? How do you know they won’t disappear with your commissions?
And what if you DO have your own site and take payments for your OWN product? Aside from the hosting issue, what payment processor are you using? Can you trust that they won’t just yank your account from under you for no reason at all? And what about that site itself? If you didn’t create it, who did? Can you trust that person to be there if you need modifications? I think you can see where I am going with this. Truth is, no man is an island and when you run a business you are always dependent on somebody.
So back to the question. Who do you trust? Well, if you know somebody personally, that’s always a great place to start. I have a personal friend I do my hosting through. But what if you don’t know anybody? What if none of your friends even own a computer? Then what? Well, if you have to go with a stranger then there are two things you want to look at…fair or not.
At the top of the list is how long they have been in business. A hosting company that has been around for 10 years is unlikely to put the screws to you. One that just opened three months ago…well, there’s no telling what you’re going to get from them. So longevity in business is a big plus, though not always a 100% fool proof sign.
Then of course there are referrals. What do others have to say about the service? I always look for reviews of a product or service before I get it. If everybody is raving about it, there is at least a pretty good chance that I won’t be disappointed.
Sadly, there is no fool proof way to prevent yourself from getting a raw deal. Sometimes even the well established companies with great reputations drop the ball. But they’re still a much safer bet than Joe Blow who just opened up shop last week.
