Home Business Tips – You Can’t Do Two Things at One Time
Filed under: Home Business, Internet Marketing, Make Money Online; Tagged as: home base business, home based business tips, home business articles, starting a home businessNo CommentsYou can’t do two things at one time, so please do me and yourself a favor…turn off the darn TV. And while you’re at it, get that DVD out of your PC and shut YouTube down. How in the heck do you expect to run a home business when you’ve got a half dozen things going on at one time? Oh, but it doesn’t stop there. Your actual business is being run like a three ring circus. Think I’m kidding? Let’s take a look.
Here’s the typical day of a home business owner. You get up and turn on the PC. So far, so good. You connect to the Internet and check your stats first thing. Then you check your email to see if you have any orders or customer service requests. So far, so good. Here is where things spiral out of control.
You begin to work on your next project, whether it’s writing new ads, looking for new products, working on updating your web site or whatever. The problem is, you try to do all of these things all at once. You’ve got your Notepad open where you begin typing your ad. Then you stop to check out an affiliate marketplace to see if you can find a new product. Then you pull up your site in Dreamweaver and start going over it to see if something is out of place.
All the while that this is going on, you’ve got YouTube up and you’re looking for videos on how to promote online. You then have a DVD in your PC that has some inspirational talks on them…all about mindset. You’re trying to watch these in between the YouTube videos. All this time, you’ve got the TV on tuned to the infomercial station to try to learn something from pitchmen like the late Billy Mays.
I don’t know about you, but as good as I am, I can’t do all these things at one time. I have to focus on one thing and one thing ONLY. In fact, what I do is make a checklist. Each morning, I look at that checklist and go through it one item at a time. I start on that item and when it is COMPLETELY done, I take it off the list. I do not go to YouTube or put on the TV or anything else. I focus on the one thing I have to do and THAT is how I get it done. This work ethic allows me to do three days of work in one day while others take seven days to finish one day.
If you’re honest with yourself, you know that I’m right. And yes, I know, it’s hard to focus on one thing for a length of time. After a while, boredom sets in. Believe me, I even have to take a break once in a while. So take a break. But after your break is over, get back to what you were doing…otherwise it’s never going to get done. I am speaking from experience.
To YOUR Success,
