Internet Marketing Cutting Edge Tactics – Horse Hockey
Filed under: Home Business, Internet Marketing, Make Money Online; Tagged as: internet marketing strategies, internet marketing strategy, strategic internet marketingNo CommentsYou have to hand it to Internet marketers. They know how to make ground chuck sound like filet mignon. I don’t know how they do it. And all this talk about cutting edge Internet marketing tactics…a load of horse hockey. Want to get the real deal on Internet marketing? Maybe you should read this no punches pulled article. I expect it to get a lot of hate mail from a lot of snake oil salesmen.
In order to understand why all of this is just a load of hype, you really need to go back to the early days of marketing. Sure, we didn’t have all the bells and whistles that we have today, but the concepts were the same and will always be the same. Why don’t we get to those basic concepts right here?
To start with, you need a product…something that somebody has a use for. I know there can be arguments for stupid things like pet rocks, but even they served a purpose…entertainment. When it comes to entertainment, the crazier the better. All it needs is an angle. But outside of those exceptions, you need something that has a demand. For example, it’s highly unlikely you’re going to be able to sell snow shovels to people who live in the desert or swim suits to people in Alaska.
After you have your product, the next thing you need is an offer. It doesn’t matter how good the product is. If the offer stinks, nobody will buy it. If you think I’m wrong, imagine trying to sell a candy bar for $10,000 or a home for five cents. In the one case the price is ridiculously high and in the other, it’s so low, people will wonder if the home is ready to fall of its foundation. Yes, you can offer something for too low a price and not make any sales because people think it’s cheap garbage.
Finally, you need a vehicle to get your offer to the masses. Offline, you have TV, radio, newspapers, magazines and so on. Online you have paid ads, articles, web sites, blogs and so on. The media may be different, but the message is ultimately the same regardless of what you use. These so called “cutting edge tactics” are no more than fancy wrapping on an old method. The squeeze page opt in is really no different from the old mailing lists of years ago where you’d sign up for something and every month they’d send you your “pick of the month” and then decide whether or not you wanted to keep it.
There is an old saying that goes like this. “There is nothing new under the son.” It is quite true. Point is, you don’t need to learn these cutting edge tactics (if they even exist) to promote your product, whether it be as an affiliate or as a marketer promoting your own product. All you need to do is use the same tried and proven methods that have always worked since man used movable type.
Don’t let the snake oil salesmen sell you a bill of goods.
To YOUR Success,
