This article is going to infuriate a lot of people, but not for the reasons that you think. In my four plus years of marketing online, I have run into a lot of people who feel that Internet marketing is unfair and nothing but a smoke and mirrors show. What do I mean by this? Well, keep reading and you’ll find out. You may or may not agree.

The general conceptions about Internet marketing are that the big gurus, or the successful people online, only make their money because they sell “how to make money” products to other marketers and in reality, these people never made a dime in their life doing anything else. Then, to complicate the process further, they form their own little group or click and promote each other’s products, keeping the little guy out of the mix in the process, thus making it very difficult, if not impossible, to become successful. Like it or not, these are the conceptions.

Well, it’s time for me to blow the lid off this little conspiracy theory because it’s simply not true. Many of these so called snake oil salesmen made good money before they ever sold make money online products. The reason they sell them is because they in fact know what they’re doing and if you follow their instructions, you can actually make a decent living online. How do I know this?

Even though I am a successful marketer, making five figures monthly, I am not in the inner circle of the so called gurus. I have yet to have any well known name promote any of my products. As a matter of fact, I make most of my sales on my own with very little affiliate support. How do I do this? Well, I learned from the experts, and some research on my own as well. And yes, their instruction actually does work, believe it or not.

The reason people feel it’s one big smoke and mirrors show is because they’re not successful. As a matter of fact, 95% of the people who try to make a living online are unsuccessful at it. However, the reason why isn’t because the gurus are fooling them with smoke and mirrors. The reason is because they either don’t apply what they’ve learned or don’t have the ability to apply. Sorry, but like it or not, you need some skills, especially in the writing department, if you’re going to be successful online. I’ve yet to find a push button business that any monkey can do.

So my answer is simple. No, it’s not a smoke and mirrors show. Get yourself an education, develop some solid skills, don’t try to sell people make money online products if you’ve never made a dime in your life and finally, work very hard. If you put all that together, there is no reason why you can’t be successful on the Internet.
