Internet Marketing News – Google Looking For Help

Well, it looks like a lot of people are into cleaning up these days. Maybe the gravy train has finally come to an end for a lot of the crooks and con men out there. One can only hope. In latest news out of Google, it appears that they are looking for help. No, they’re not hiring so forget about that. What I’m talking about is help in cleaning up the Internet. Keep reading to find out how YOU can do YOUR part.

In a nutshell, what Google is asking is for anybody who knows of any sites that are using black hat practices to inform them so that they can take action. This can be anything from misleading redirects to cookie stuffing. It appears that Google has run out of ways to be able to automatically detect all the garbage that’s out there and so they need YOUR help.

You’re probably thinking, “Why should I help Google? What have they done for me?” Well, forget about what they may or may not have done for you. Think about what you can do for yourself. For example. Let’s say you have an affiliate review site and somebody else is reviewing the same products except when a prospect comes to THEIR site, regardless of whether or not they click on their links, they stuff cookies so that THEY will get the sale even if the prospect clicked on YOUR link first and ONLY. Suddenly you’re not so happy, are you?

And this kind of nonsense goes on all over the place. Google, apparently, can’t keep up with it all. So they are asking us to help them track down any black hat tactics. Now, don’t get me wrong. I have no love for Google. They make more in a day than I make all year. But I am all for making it so that I don’t get cheated out of my fair share because some guy is using every dirty trick in the book to steal my traffic AND my income. So in that respect, I am all for helping Google nail these creeps…as you should be.

How? Just keep your eyes open for anything that looks suspicious. If you run into sites that you catch downloading anything to your machine, report it to Google. If you click on links that take you to places other than where you expected to go, report that as well. The sooner we get the Internet cleaned up, the better chance we have of running a more profitable business.

Will we find everything? Of course not. but every little bit will help.
