Internet Marketing Tips – Are Webinars Worth Doing?
Filed under: Home Business, Internet Marketing, Make Money Online; Tagged as: home base business, home based business tips, home business articles, starting a home businessNo CommentsThere are many ways of getting prospects. While the most common one is list building, another way that some Internet marketers use is the webinar. The question that this article puts forth today is simple. Are webinars worth doing? Well, it really depends on what you’re looking to get out of them.
For those who don’t know what a webinar is, it’s an online, interactive presentation, usually held in a conference room. More sophisticated ones use video. But for now, let’s keep this simple and restrict it to the use of a conference room where X number of people can be invited to attend.
At the top of your list should be your reason for putting on the webinar in the first place. Is it to provide information? Is it to pitch a product? Or is it to do both? Yes, you can do the both if you like. In all honesty, a straight sales pitch won’t go over very well. Most people who attend these events expect to learn something…for free.
And therein lies the rub of the webinar. For that matter, therein lies the rub of anything used to attract prospects. The “free” report, newsletter, or whatever it is you’re giving away, is a common tactic. In fact, it’s so common that is seems to have lost a little steam over the years. Truth is, many people who opt in to get free reports or attend free webinars are in fact freebie seekers and will never become buyers. That is the price we pay for offering free content.
That is why I ask the question if a webinar is worth doing. A free report or newsletter takes much less time and effort than a webinar and the results, at least as far as my own testing go, show very little difference between the two as far as response to an offer. In fact, I’ve had better responses from giving away a free report than from hosting one of these hour long sessions.
So then why do them? Well, like I said up top…it depends on your motive. If it’s just to sell product, there are easier ways to do it. Trust me on that. However, if it’s to build credibility and offer real value, then doing one could very well be one of the best decisions you can make. Whereas a free report or newsletter is more impersonal and detached, a webinar is VERY personal. People get to see you up close…warts and all. You become a real person to them.
This can go a long way to building your brand, your reputation and your income…even if it doesn’t happen overnight.
So, before you decide whether or not you’re going to host one of these shindigs, take a look at your motives for doing so. Those motives will give you the answer as to whether or not a webinar is worth doing.
