Internet Marketing Tips – Are You Becoming Too Predictable?

Let me start out by saying, I am probably as predictable as the day is long when it comes to marketing. However, there is one thing I am NOT…and that’s too predictable. Yes, it is a very fine line between being consistent and being a bore. In this article, I’m going to suggest a few ways to shake things up a bit so that your target market doesn’t fall asleep on you.

Let’s start with article marketing since that has become a common way for marketers to get traffic to their site. Let’s say that your articles are typically the informative type where you’re offering tips on how to do a certain marketing related activity. Sure, those articles can be very helpful, but they can also become very predictable and boring, so why not mix things up a bit by writing an article that’s a rant about something marketing related that you don’t like? Or maybe you can write an article asking your readers some questions and have them reflect on those questions without giving them specific answers.

What about marketers who enjoy participating in forums? Well, the same thing applies. And with forums you can try some tactics that are even more subtle. For example, most forums give you the choice of fonts to use for your posts. Let’s say you usually use the default font for your posts. Why not try this? Why not make a post picking out a different kind of font? Trust me, the people who usually follow your posts at the forum will begin to wonder if it’s even you. Subtle…but very effective.

And then of course there’s pay per click advertising. What if you’re used to using a straight forward benefit driven approach to your ads. Maybe you might want to try something different like using a question based ad? You could even use a sensational headline for one of your ads to really get somebody’s attention. One thing I have learned over the years is that ads get old fast and people become blind to the same one over and over. This is why it’s always a good idea to mix yours up.

The list goes on and one, including the type of emails you send TO your list…informative, funny, shocking or whatever. Point is, if you mix things up, you won’t become predictable and you won’t put your target marketing to sleep.

    It’s certainly something to consider.
