Internet Marketing Tips – Are Your Emails Just Dust in the Wind?
No CommentsWasn’t that a great Kansas song? Well, maybe it was. But let me tell you, if your emails are just dust in the wind, you’re going to be in a lot of trouble. You probably don’t know what I’m talking about. Well, I’m referring to whether or not your emails actually get delivered, opened and read. If they’re not, then they’re just about as good as dust in the wind. Well, don’t hit the panic button just yet. If your emails are not getting read, this article should help solve that problem.
Your first obstacle is getting the darn thing delivered in the first place. And yes, this can be annoying. Because of everybody and their grandmother screaming spam, ISPs have been forced to put very aggressive spam filters on their email accounts. This makes is so that even emails that you want, sometimes don’t get delivered. It’s frustrating to say the least. Well, you can reduce this problem by running your emails through a spam checker. There are plenty of free ones online so that you don’t have to pay for anything. Just look up “free spam checker” at Google.
Once the email is delivered, there is still the problem of getting it opened. Let’s face it, people get hit with a lot of emails and unless YOUR email stands out, it’s NOT going to get opened. So you have to come up with a subject line that is going to get people to want to open it. Usually promising some kind of benefit that they’ll get IF they read the email will do the trick. We live in a world where everybody is asking, “What’s in it for me?” So you have to tell them what’s in it for them or they won’t open your email. It’s that simple.
The final hurdle is getting them to actually take action after they’ve read your email. The easiest way to do this is simply to deliver on your promise in the subject of the email itself. For example, if you send out an email with the subject, “3 Tips For Getting Traffic” then you better have three tips for getting traffic in the body of the email. Otherwise, your target audience is going to feel let down. And when that happens, they don’t take action on whatever it is you want them to take action on in the email itself.
It’s not rocket science. Email marketing can be very simple with a little common sense.
