The first way is something that very few people do because they don’t think outside of the box. This is something that can’t be done with software or DVDs or anything else for that matter because of the nature of the way they’re structured. But with ebooks, this is so easy to do and it is so effective. What am I talking about? I’m talking about excerpts.

An ebook is made up of pages…many of them. Most well made ebooks are quite long, running about 100 pages or more. Sometimes a prospect will be hesitant to shell out $97 for a 200 page ebook because he doesn’t know what he’s going to be getting…even with the guarantee. So imagine if you allowed him to actually read the first 40 pages. Do you think he’d be more inclined to purchase the book if he had some idea of the quality? I’ve done this with some of my products and have had amazing results. Yet, so few people do it.

Another great marketing tactic for ebooks is the lead in. What you do is create a brief report that essentially explains what’s in the ebook. The report doesn’t have to be long. About 20 or 30 pages should do the trick. Explain the high points of the ebook. Let people have a feel for what they’re going to be getting. Then, after you’ve written it, upload it to some of those free download directories. Of course make sure that inside the book itself there is a link to purchase your full blown ebook. If you’ve wetted their appetite enough, you should make quite a few sales in this manner.
