Want to end up in IM purgatory? Then DON’T read this article. I can’t even begin to tell you how many people have ended up giving up on Internet marketing because they’ve committed one blunder after another. It’s almost like a disease with no cure. Well, actually there is a cure…it’s called common sense. Unfortunately, that seems to be in short supply these days. Anyway, if you don’t want to blunder your way to IM purgatory, you might want to read this. I’m going to touch on just a few things that could really put the kibosh on your IM future.

For starters, do you even have a plan? I mean I can’t believe how many people I talk to and when I ask them if they have a plan they give me something like, “Oh, I don’t know. I’m just gonna do a little of this and that and see what sticks.” Huh? Are you serious? That’s how you go about being an Internet marketer? You throw some stuff at the wall and see what sticks? It’s not exactly a recipe for success in my book. But, if you want to rely on luck for your IM success, hey, go for it. But if you’re smart, you’ll make a plan.

Then of course there is the guy who thinks that he doesn’t need to know anything to be successful. And actually, to a degree, this is true. If you want, you can just go out and hire people to market for you. Naturally, this is going to require quite a bit of capital to pull off. You don’t have a problem with coughing up a few grand do you? Of course, if you DON’T know what you’re doing then you have no way of knowing if these people you’ve hired are robbing you blind. So some business sense would be nice. Hey, it’s just a thought.

Finally, and this is something NOBODY thinks about until it’s too late…your computer, like it or not, is NOT indestructible. One day you’re going to wake up, turn it on, and find that you’d have better luck trying to turn on your ex wife. Oh and then what happens when your hard drive crashes and you realize…doh! I have no backup! Man, aren’t you going to look silly with egg all over your face when you try to explain to your ex wife that your business just went down the tubes and her alimony check is going to be a little late.

Okay, I’ve tried to make light of a very serious subject. The truth is, these, and many other items, can turn your business into mush overnight. If you think I’m kidding, I’m not. So please do yourself a favor. Make a plan, get some solid knowledge under your belt and PLEASE backup your data.
