Internet Marketing Tips – Break The Rules – Pay The Piper
Filed under: Home Business, Internet Marketing, Make Money Online; Tagged as: internet marketing strategies, internet marketing strategy, strategic internet marketingNo CommentsIt’s very tempting, when you’re marketing on the Internet, to try to break, or at least bend the rules a bit. Sometimes we may not even know what the rules are, but ignorance of the law is no excuse, as they say on Law & Order. So I thought I’d write an article about a few of the rules that we need to be aware of and how breaking them can land us in a ton of trouble. You might find this helpful, especially if you’re not a Law & Order fan.
One of the biggest rules on the Internet, if not the biggest, is the rules about spamming. Back in 2003, there was the Can Spam Act. This act basically said that any email message sent out that was business related or sales related in nature had to have the physical address of the person sending it and also a way for the person to opt out of receiving any further emails. This is the reason why we have companies like Aweber and GetResponse to send out our emails for us. This way, we’re protected. Unfortunately, some people decide that they’re not going to play by the rules and spam the life out of everybody they can.
What’s the result of this, should you attempt to be a spammer yourself? The result is not pretty. For starters, once you are known as a spammer, you are essentially shunned by the rest of the Internet marketing community. Nobody is going to want to have anything to do with you. So forget about getting any joint ventures now, in the future, or ever. But worse than that, if you’re caught spamming, you can be subject to losing your ISP or worse, fine and imprisonment. Yes, spamming is a serious offense.
Another rule people seem to try to get around is the one at most forums on the Internet. Your high class forum will not allow you to post ads of any kind. You can use the forum for discussion only. Well, some people decide that they’re above the rules and they’re going to register with the forum, post ads all over the place and make tons of money for their efforts. Well, the only thing they’re going to get for their efforts is twofold. For starters, they will have all their posts deleted by the moderators. Yes, people actually moderate these forums to keep the riffraff out. Then, after your posts are deleted, your membership to the forum is terminated, permanently.
So while some people may think that they are above the rules and can get away with anything, trust me, you break them, you WILL have to pay the piper. So make sure you are aware of the rules for whatever activity you participate online. It may just save you from having to pay that piper a fortune.
To YOUR Success,
Steven Wagenheim
