Internet Marketing Tips – Commission Tips
No CommentsIf you’re offering your own product, one of the things that trips up many marketers is what to offer their affiliates as commission percentage. The important thing you have to remember is that affiliates will not work for peanuts, especially in the make money online niche. So if you’re going to compete against other vendors, you need to know how to play the game. This article will give you some basic commission strategies for paying your affiliate army.
For one thing, if you plan on listing your product with Clickbank, you are going to have to be ready to part with a minimum of 50% of the price of the product. Clickbank affiliates are used to getting large commissions. Some merchants pay as much as 75% and that’s hard to compete against. So if you’re going to play the Clickbank game, you’re going to have to get into the large commission mindset.
The next strategy for commissions is the $7 report strategy. This is something that many marketers do, not so much to make the $7, but to build their list. What they do is create a report of about 10 to 20 pages or so and sell it for $7. They then offer 100% commissions to affiliates for promoting the report. Because the reports are basically easy to sell because of the small price tag, affiliates will have an easy time selling them and will jump at the chance to promote it.
Now, you’re probably thinking, “How does this do anything for me?” Well, it’s very simple. Each person who gets this report, because of the way the $7 script is structured, has to opt into your list in order to get the product. In return, you now have this person on your list and can offer them higher priced products in the longer run. This is a very effective commission strategy for getting tons of affiliates to promote this product.
The point is, and this is also the bottom line, the Internet marketing community is very competitive these days. Affiliates know that there are plenty of products out there that they can get either a decent commission percentage on or if it’s a high end product, a decent commission amount even if it’s not such a high percentage. Either way, the affiliate wants to get as much out of promoting your product as he can. The above tips for setting commission percentages will greatly help you in recruiting affiliates to promote your products or services.
