Internet Marketing Tips – Don’t Give Your Away Your Ideas
Filed under: Home Business, Internet Marketing, Make Money Online; Tagged as: internet marketing strategies, internet marketing strategy, strategic internet marketingNo CommentsThis is something I see happening everyday and it drives me crazy. Marketers come to forums and ask questions like, “I got this idea for a new widget. What do you think?” Okay, first of all, if it’s a new idea, why are you sharing it with others? Don’t you realize that there are thieves out there? Secondly, why not just test the idea out for yourself? If it doesn’t work, what have you lost? In this article, I’m going to go over some simple tips for seeing if your idea has any chance of flying.
The first thing you want to do is hit the search engines. Why do I say this? Well, I have a news flash for you. There are very few really original things in this world. Most things have been done before. So hit Google and see if there are any sites already out there that are doing what you want to do. Then go and see what their Alexa ranking is. Find out if they’re using pay per click advertising. All of this will give you some idea of how successful the site is.
The next thing you want to do is a small test. Implement the idea on a small scale. If you’re thinking of a new ebook, instead of writing the whole ebook, write a brief report. Have people opt in to get it and then follow up with an autoresponder series asking them what they thought of the report and if they would be interested in a product based on the report. Get as much feedback from your subscribers as you can. This is the only way you’re going to find out if there is any interest.
What you need to understand is that by asking others about your ideas before you’ve even done one thing with them, you are opening yourself up for people to literally come in and steal them from you. There are some very sharp marketers out there who will jump on something the first chance that they get. So the last thing that you want to do is give them that opportunity. By keeping things close to the vest and testing them out quietly, you have a better chance of keeping your idea a secret until the day comes when you finally release it to the world.
And if it’s a marketing technique, for crying out loud, don’t let others know about it. Imagine if you were the first one to discover YouTube and blabbed about it to the world before you took the time to make it work for you. Not smart.
So do your own research, take polls and keep your trap shut.
Your business will thank you for it.
To YOUR Success,
