Internet Marketing Tips – Email Marketing Subject Tips

A lot of people are saying that email marketing is dead. Well, it’s not. It may be a little sick these days because of delivery problems, but it is certainly not dead. I’ve been doing email marketing for over five years and it is still one of the most dependable ways to earn an income online. In this article, I’m going to go over one of the biggest problems with email marketing, getting your emails opened, and what you can do about it.

The reason that emails are not getting opened is because marketers are using lame subject lines in an attempt to get prospects to open their emails. By lame, I’m talking about overhyped claims or subjects that simply don’t do the job of getting anybody excited. I’m going to give you three subject line ideas that should do the trick as far as getting your emails opened.

The first is the benefit. A benefit is something that the prospect knows he’s going to get from opening and reading your email. This is probably one of the most effective ways to get your emails opened. Why is this so? Because your prospects want to know “what’s in it for them?” This is the bottom line for them. So, if you’re selling a product on debt relief, which is big in today’s economy, a subject like, “Free Report On Getting Your Debt Reduced By 75% In 30 Days” would certainly get somebody to open the email. It’s an immediate benefit that they’re going to get from opening and reading your email.

Another great way to get your emails opened is with the sensational subject. This is where you use something that is so shocking that the person seeing it can’t help but open up the email. An example of this would be something like, “Marketer X Called Me A Thief.” Now think about this. You’re telling your list that some marketer called you a thief. They’re going to want to know why. Now, in the email, you better deliver on the subject, meaning you better explain why. Then you can give them your sales pitch.

Finally, there is the direct limited sale. Now, if you’re going to do this, it better be legit. An example would be “Product X On Sale For $27…Only 10 Available.” If you do this, you better make sure that only 10 are going to be sold, or whatever number you choose.

I have found that the above subject ideas work best. There are others. Bottom line is this…you want to get your prospect to open your email legitimately or you’re going to damage your reputation and lose your list.
