I have to admit, this Internet marketing A-Z series is one of the most fun things, for me anyway, that I’ve done in a long time. Well, we’re up to the letter F. I thought long and hard about this one and finally decided to go with the way I started making money, real money, online…by freelancing. Yes, freelancing is a great way to earn a living online. You don’t have to sell products, make websites or none of that garbage. But…is it for you? Well, we’re going to find out in this article. Hope you enjoy reading it.

Freelancing is essentially providing your skills as a writer, programmer, graphic artist or whatever to people who need those services. Simple, right? All you need is your skill and whatever tools are required to do the job. If you’re a writer, MS Word will probably do the trick. If you’re a graphic artist, a program like Photoshop will most likely be required. If you’re a programmer, depending on what language you program in, you’ll need certain compilers for that. But other than those things, there is nothing else you really need.

However, there are downsides to freelancing. No, it’s not all fun and games. For one thing, you don’t have a boss to answer to. Nobody is going to drag your behind out of bed in the morning to do the assignment that’s on your desk. You have to find a way to motivate yourself. And nobody is even going to know you’re out there available for work unless you make yourself known to the outside world. That means going to the places where the customers are and looking for help.

With freelancing, the work isn’t always going to be steady. You’re going to have good times and bad times. Therefore, you need to learn how to make a budget and stick to it. Otherwise, you’re going to find out that your rent isn’t going to be paid one month.

Now, I don’t want you to think that freelancing is all bad. It’s not. There are people who make six figures as year freelancing. A copywriter can make as much as $15,000 or more for one sales letter. That’s not bad. You can make your own hours, work when you want, and if you get yourself a large enough client base, you can effectively have work for many years without ever having to advertise.

Anyway, it’s something for you to think about if the thought of selling products online makes your head hurt.

Freelancing is a great way to make an online income.
