Internet Marketing Tips – Forum Marketing For the Thick Skulled

If you’re not thick skulled, there is no reason to be reading this. However, if you are, then this may be the most important article you’ve ever read on forum marketing. I’m only going to say that I am speaking from experience here and I’ll leave it at that. If you follow the basic things that I’ve laid out below, you’ll give yourself a decent chance of becoming and staying a respected member of the community that you’ve joined. If not, well…I’m not responsible for the consequences. You’ve been warned.

First of all, read the rules. Nobody does, but read them. Some of them are actually enforced. For example, if a rule says “No affiliate links in signatures” then the forum means it. If you break the rule, you will most likely be banned. Also, if the forum has a maximum number of lines for a signature, better obey that as well. These places mean business and the rules are there for a reason. It doesn’t matter if you agree with them or not.

Okay, as far as how to behave at a forum, there are a few things you don’t want to do. For one thing, don’t go bragging about your income. Nobody wants to hear it. Well, maybe the new folks. But the old timers, they’ll be on you like flies on a dead horse. Also, don’t complain about your posts being deleted. If a post is deleted by a moderator or the admin of a forum, it is for a reason. Get over it and move on.

As for giving advice, make sure you make it clear that you are only giving your opinion. Do not claim things to be facts. This is how you get into trouble, especially from the older members who know better. You want to be very careful when giving advice because that advice can have a detrimental effect on a person who is just starting out. In other words, be responsible.

As for posting and starting threads, don’t make so many posts that it appears that all you’re trying to do is take over the forum, whether that is your intention or not. That’s how the older members are going to see it and they’re going to call you out on it. A few posts a day is fine, but don’t overdo it. Use your common sense in this area.

In general, behave yourself. If you do, you will find that you will become a welcomed and respected member of the forum you’re attending.
