A lot of people right now are sitting in front of their computer screens scratching their heads and saying to themselves, “What the heck is this nut talking about now?” Admit it, you’re one of them…right? Well, don’t worry, this nut is going to explain what he means by the title of this article. Yes, I want you to go out and fly a kite. And I’m going to show you exactly how to do it. Interested? Good, then keep reading and I promise you that you’ll be in for a treat.

First of all, why am I even telling you to do this? The answer is simple. I want to get you thinking. Too many marketers get stuck in ruts because they forget how to think. If you don’t think, you don’t come up with new ideas. If you don’t come up with new ideas, your marketing stagnates. It’s really that simple. So the real purpose of the title and what’s to follow is to get you thinking again. Okay, now let’s get to the thinking part, or as I like to call it, flying a kite.

To fly a kite, we need a few things. We need string to tie to the kite, the kite itself, maybe with a nice tail attached to it, and a good strong wind. I want to focus on the good strong wind because I think you’ve got a good handle on the kite and string part, right? If not, read some of my articles on product creation.

Wind is what makes any kite go. Without it, it doesn’t matter how good the kite is. It won’t get off the ground. Well, wind is comparable to marketing. The more you market, the more wind you generate. But there are some things you can do to give yourself an advantage. When flying a kite, wouldn’t it be to your advantage to maybe start off on an elevated area? This way, you’re already off the ground a bit. So maybe stand on top of a mountain. That would REALLY give your kite a lift, wouldn’t it?

Well, in IM terns, that mountain is your site, or the sites of others. Many beginning marketers don’t have sites or have ones that are so low in PR that the SERPs don’t even know they’re there. So why not leverage the PR of OTHER sites? There are plenty of them out there that will actually allow you to be a part of their content. A great example is a blog. Do you know how many high ranked blogs are out there in YOUR niche that allow comments? All you have to do is search for them, find them, go to them, post a relevant and helpful comment to one of the posts and finally, at the end of the comment, include a link back to your site.

Trust me, if you make comments that REALLY help people (such as adding additional info to the original post) you will get many people to your OWN site. I’ve been doing this for a long time and it works. The key is finding blogs where the blog owner is also a respected person in that niche.

And this is just one way to help that wind along. Add to that a solid kite, or product, and you’ll find that your sales will increase considerably.

Now, go out there and fly that kite!

    To YOUR Success,
