I’m not going to mention any names because I don’t want to embarrass anybody but today I learned about a fellow marketer who needed some help financially because of unforeseen problems. I sent a small donation in order to help out. Since I’m well off, it was no big deal. And I didn’t do it to get anything in return…but…if you help others, you are helping yourself in the process. Let me explain why.

Internet marketers, people for that matter, remember when somebody does something nice for them. It’s just human nature…especially when we didn’t expect the act of kindness. For example, anytime that anybody has done anything nice for me, I always remembered for the future and tried to pay it back in some way. Now, in marketing terms, this can translate to many things. I’m going to give you just a couple right off the top of my head.

At the top of my list is a potential joint venture. Think about it. Who is more likely to want to do business with you? Somebody who doesn’t know you from Adam or somebody who you happened to lend a helping hand to when they needed it? My money is on the latter. This doesn’t mean that this is going to happen, but there is a much better chance of it happening if it’s been proceeded by an act of kindness. Like I said, it’s human nature. And we all know, joint ventures can lead to big things.

Another thing that can come of this, on a smaller scale, is the person possibly giving you a copy of their latest product. Naturally, we aren’t going to need every product given to us, but even if we don’t need it, if the product is good and IF it has an affiliate program, what’s just happened is that we got a hold of a product for free that we can try out and review if we like it. This could lead to sales down the road for us. And of course if the product actually helps us with something, all the better.

I’m not saying to donate to every marketer in need (unless you can afford to do so) but certainly keeping your options open in this area can lead to bigger and better things down the road. And of course, the payment can be in the form of services rendered.

Like I said…it’s human nature to repay an act of kindness.
