Well, it’s that time again. Every once in a while I like to play the role of your conscience. I know you probably don’t like hearing this stuff but somebody has to keep marketers on the straight and narrow otherwise, as bad as a reputation Internet marketing has in this world, it would only get worse if we didn’t police ourselves. So in this article, I want to talk about honesty in sales pages.

Let’s start off with one of my pet peeves. Which one? This one is the sales page that says “Only 100 of these will be sold” or something like that. You know the ones I’m talking about. Do you make these? If you do, I hope you mean it. Just recently, a friend of mine from the Warrior Forum went to a sales page that said only 5 would be sold. So guess what? He bought all 5 and then a little while later, went back to get some more just to see if the site was on the level and wouldn’t you know it…there were more available. Surprise, surprise. I would have never thought this stuff goes on.

Okay, that was a joke. Of course I know this stuff goes on. You know it too. For some reason, marketers seem to think that it’s okay to make claims of scarcity just to get people to buy their product without having any intention of honoring it. Well, if this continues the way it’s been going on, eventually, nobody is going to believe our claims and sales are going to shrink considerably.

Let’s take another one…the timer. You know the one I’m talking about. You go to a site and you see that it says that you have only 12 minutes to take advantage of this opportunity and at the bottom of the sales page, you see a timer running and counting down towards zero. The funny thing is, if you go back to this sales page the next day, you’ll find the same message and the same timer. Nothing has changed but the day. This is another tactic that eventually is going to kill your credibility.

I think that’s enough to mess with your conscience for one day.

Keep it real…The Internet buying community will thank you for it.

    To YOUR Success,

    Steven Wagenheim
