Internet Marketing Tips – How to Get a Mentor
Filed under: Home Business, Internet Marketing, Make Money Online; Tagged as: internet marketing strategies, internet marketing strategy, strategic internet marketingNo CommentsThere is no question that having a mentor to help you along with your Internet marketing can be a valuable asset. But what does one look for in a mentor? How do you go about finding one that is going to give you the most value? In this article, I’m going to give you a few tips on looking for one. Hopefully, these will help you get the one that’s best for YOUR needs.
For starters, before you even begin to look for a mentor, you need to know what it is that you want to accomplish. The more detailed you can be about this, the better. So sit down and write out a plan for what it is you want to get out of your sessions. If you have no idea, that’s your first problem. See, nobody can really help you unless you have some idea of what it is you want to accomplish. So write out some kind of goals or plan.
After that, what you want to do is seek out a mentor who is the best fit for what it is YOU want to accomplish. For example, let’s say you want to learn how to write a sales letter. You’re going to look for somebody who has experience writing sales letters. Believe it or not, not every successful marketer is a copywriter. As a matter of fact, some of the most successful marketers actually get other people to write their sales letters for them. So make sure you are seeking out someone who has the skills you’re looking to learn.
Next, you want to contact the person with a complete outline of what it is you are looking to get out of the mentoring. Make sure the presentation is as professional as possible, This will give you the best chance of being taken seriously. Too many people will write to other marketers with a simple, “I’m looking for a mentor. Can you help me? I want to make money online.” And that’s it. Nobody is going to take someone seriously who can’t write more than what amounts to a lazy plea for help. Most won’t even respond.
Finally, and it is important that you understand this, no mentor worth his salt is going to train you out of the goodness of his heart. You have to understand that these people have businesses to run and don’t have the time to give charity. If you expect to be trained, expect to pay for the service. You wouldn’t go into a barber and ask for a free haircut. Don’t expect the same from a successful marketer. If you can’t pay, offer your services to the person. If they are in need of an administrative assistant, they may take you up on your offer. But don’t expect something for nothing.
Getting a mentor can mean the difference between reaching your goals in 6 weeks or 6 months. Naturally, YOU have to put in the effort and actually do the work required of you. But if you can do that, and honestly work the program, you will find that it can be the most rewarding experience of your life.
