Internet Marketing Tips – How To Keep Your Focus
Filed under: Home Business, Internet Marketing, Make Money Online; Tagged as: internet marketing strategies, internet marketing strategy, strategic internet marketingNo CommentsI’ll be honest with you. with all my success, which has been considerable over the past four years, I sometimes get a little lazy. Let’s face it, sometimes you just don’t want to work. Unfortunately, in this business, if you don’t work, you don’t make money. So how do you keep your focus? How do you avoid the temptation to hit the video games or the tube? I can’t speak for anyone else, but the following is what works for me. I think you will find that it works well for you too.
The first thing I do is make a schedule. When something is written in ink, or in the case of those who don’t own a pen and scrap of paper, typed into Excel or Word, it is easier to actually stick to it. Why? Well, when you’re looking at a list of things to do, and they’re numbered from 1 to whatever, it’s pretty hard to ignore that schedule because it’s staring you right in the face. Guilt starts to sink in if you ignore that list for any length of time. At least it does for me. I can’t go more than one day before I start to feel guilty about not getting something done. So make a schedule. It will help a lot.
Another great way to keep your focus is to make a game of it. Reward yourself for completing a certain task. What I do is this. Let’s say I have to complete a chapter of my latest ebook and I really don’t feel like working on it. What I do is this. I set a time requirement for myself for that day. This is how many hours I must work on that chapter. After I complete the time required, I reward myself with something. Maybe it’s a TV program or a ride to the store to pick up a treat for myself. Sometimes I’ll go out and buy myself a video game for my PC or I’ll take a break to play golf or some other sports game. By giving myself a reward, it gives me more incentive to get my work done.
If all that fails, then I think about how if I don’t get my work done and don’t continue to generate an income for myself, my family suffers. We don’t have as much money for my daughter’s college. We don’t have as much money for food and so on. This is a great motivator knowing that if I don’t work I don’t get paid. Now obviously if you’re independently wealthy, you don’t have to worry about these things. But for that matter, if you’re independently wealthy, you don’t need to worry about keeping focus.
As I said, I don’t know how these few things will work for you, but they do wonders for me and my business.
