Internet Marketing Tips – Is It Time To Forget Dial Up Users?

This is a topic that I know is going to cause a big stir, for many reasons. But let’s face it, we have reached a point in time where this question needs to be asked. If you’re not sure why, keep reading. This article will explain, in plain English, why it may or may not be time to forget about dial up users on the Internet. If you’re expecting an easy solution, you’re going to be very disappointed.

Okay, the first question that needs to be answered is this. Are there any dial up users left? Well, the answer to that is a resounding yes. There are actually still more dial up users than users with high speed connections in the world. Why is this? Simply because not every part of the world has high speed access or technology. There are even parts of the United States that don’t have high speed access. So unfortunately, there are a great number of dial up users out there.

Well, if that’s the case, then why would you want to forget about them? And what exactly does “forgetting about them” mean? To answer this question, you have to understand where Internet marketing is heading and where it is right now.

Video has become the new marketing tool of choice. Go to just about any web site these days and you’ll find sales messages in video form. Some of these videos are professionally made. The production costs of some of them are astronomical. The problem with these videos is that they are very difficult, if not impossible to view, using dial up connections because of the speed issue. I get complaints from dial up users all the time that they can’t view some of my videos.

But the fact still remains. The cutting edge marketers are using video. It has proven to sell greater than just plain text ads. So eliminating video from your marketing arsenal is not an option, not unless you want to be left behind. Will you lose some dial up customers? Yes, without question. But you may lose even more customers because your competition has left you in the dust.

Like I said, there is no easy answer here. Ultimately, the choice to use video or not is up to you. I just thought you should know how things stand.

Not every problem has an easy solution.
