Internet Marketing Tips – Is Your List Immune to Your Message?

We so often go through our days without really giving much thought to what we’re doing. It happens to the best of us…especially when we’ve achieved a modicum of success. I am just as guilty as the rest. The problem when we do that is we sometimes miss the important things. One of those is how well our list is responding to our message. Are they? Or are they tuning us out? Do you even know? Well, if you’ve been tracking your list response rates and opt out rates and feel that they are indeed tuning you out, I am going to cover a few reasons why that might be happening. You might want to take these to heart.

With all the reasons that there are, this may be the biggest…no value. You have a list and what you send to them day after day after day has absolutely no value to them at all. You may think it’s the greatest info since sliced bread. It doesn’t matter. It’s how that info is perceived on the other end. So how do you find out if you’re giving them value? You ask. Write to your list. Ask them if they’re getting what they wanted out of being on it. If the overwhelming response is NO, then you are doing something wrong.

Another reason your list might be tuning you out is that the message you’re sending them isn’t matching what they expected to get when they signed up. The message itself might have value, and they may even agree that it does, but it wasn’t what they signed up for. How do you rectify this situation? The easiest way is to make it very clear to them when they DO sign up EXACTLY what they’ll be getting from you. That way there can be almost no confusion.

Finally, your list could be tuning you out simply because you’re boring them to death. Sure, the content is relevant, it’s what they signed up for, and it is helpful, but you put it across in such a bland way that they just can’t stand reading it anymore. Eventually everybody gets bored with even the greatest entertainers, which is why careers are so short lived, but if you’re dull to begin with, forget it. You have little chance to hold your subscriber’s attention.

There you have it…three of them main reasons why your list might be tuning you out. And you will notice that NONE of them have anything to do with selling.

Think about it next time you email your list.
