A big mistake that a lot of marketers make is forgetting about their customers who have already bought from them. They figure after the sale is made they don’t really have to do anything else. This is the kind of thinking that costs marketers thousands of dollars a year in income. In this article, I’m going to give you a few tips on keeping your customers informed so that you can make residual income from them for years to come.

The first thing you should be doing whenever you make a sale to a customer is get that person on your buyers list. With many products that require frequent updates, such as software scripts or member sites, this is almost a must if they’re not going to miss out on the product that they actually bought. For example, I’m a member of Aweber and I definitely want to know when they make a change to their program. Your customers are going to want AND expect the same. So don’t disappoint them.

What about future products? Certainly you’re not planning on just selling one thing your whole life. I have about 20 different products out there with more coming. Well, guess what? People who have already bought from you are your best customers. Why? Think about it. They already purchased one of your products and more likely than not, they’re happy with it. Therefore, when you come out with something new, they are the most likely people to buy it. They’re your warm market. Don’t neglect them.

Okay, but what if you have no new products and don’t sell something that needs maintenance? You still want to remind your customers that you’re still living and breathing. Give them tips on using your product. They might love it so much that they’ll tell others about it. This leads to NEW customers. There is nothing better than word of mouth from a satisfied customer to make new sales. And if you offer an affiliate program, you really have it made.

Keep your customers informed. In the long run, it’s more money in YOUR pocket.
