Internet Marketing Tips – P is For Payment Processing

We’re up to the letter P in our series of Internet marketing A-Z tips, facts, and just general stuff that you might find interesting and/or useful. The letter P brings us right to payment processing. Let’s face it, without the ability to take payments online, we might as well just pack up our websites and go home. In this article, I’m going to point out a few things about payment processing that you need to be aware of if you’re going to survive in this jungle. You might want to take some notes.

At the top of my list is this. Not all payment processors are the same. Each one has its own terms of service and limitations. For example, if you were to use a payment processor like PayPal, there are certain things you need to know. For starters, you’re only allowed two accounts max. One personal and one business or premiere account. If you try to open more than these and are caught, you’ll end up getting all your accounts shut down and banned for life.

Not every payment processor is available to all countries. Because of fraud that is prevalent in certain parts of the world, payment processors like Clickbank and PayPal forbid users from these countries to open accounts. So if you’re going to start a business, before you put a lot of hard work into creating websites, products and services, make sure you even have the ability to take payments.

Another thing you probably want to do is provide multiple payment options for your customers. The reason for this is the same reason why some people can’t use certain payment processors to collect payments. Some countries aren’t even permitted to make payments with processors like Clickbank and PayPal. So by limiting them to just one option, you are essentially decreasing the number of sales that you’re able to make.

Finally, it’s important that you understand the technical side of taking payments so that you’re able to properly setup your sites. Some software, like DLGuard, makes it very easy to interface with processors like Clickbank, PayPal, 2Checkout, and many others.

Your payment processing system can make or break your business. So make sure you have it solidly in place before you start out.
