Internet Marketing Tips – R is For Residual Income
Filed under: Home Business, Internet Marketing, Make Money Online; Tagged as: internet marketing strategies, internet marketing strategy, strategic internet marketingNo CommentsWouldn’t it be great to put up some kind of a site and get paid over and over month after month from the same people? Well, that’s the dream of just about every Internet marketer. In this installment of Internet marketing A-Z, I’m going to cover the letter R… residual income. I’m going to discuss what it is and how to go about getting it. I hope you’re taking notes.
Residual income is also referred to as recurring income. This is income that you get month after month without having to do any additional work to get it. In other words, it’s almost automatic. The reason I say almost is because in most residual income scenarios, there is some maintenance that you’re going to have to do. If nothing else, you’ll at least need to respond to customer complaints or questions. It’s not like you can take off for the islands somewhere and forget about your business. Well, not unless you have a team of hamsters to run the place like my friend Kevin Riley.
Okay, so what’s the best way to get residual income? Well, from my experience, the best way is to create a membership site. This is something where each month, the member pays a fee in order to access the products or services of the site. A great example of this model is Aweber. If you’re an Internet marketer, you most likely build a list. That means you need an email service to deliver your emails for you. Well, Aweber is such a service and they charge so many dollars per month to be able to use their service. I’ve been using them for over two years now. Think about how much money that is if you multiply it by hundreds of list builders.
Now, don’t get me wrong…Aweber has to do constant maintenance and upgrading. It’s not all roses. Maintaining a membership site, depending on what it is, can be a lot of work. If you have membership site that provides educational material to its members each month, then you’re going to have to continuously make sure that those materials are up to date. For example, if there are changes in Google’s AdWords policy and it affects how you use AdWords, you’re going to have to update your materials to reflect that new policy. Imagine having to do this for many different companies online.
Still, there is nothing like getting a customer one time and getting paid from that customer month after month for years to come.
At the very least, it’s something for you to consider.
