Sometimes I get the feeling that Internet marketers are running some kind of a race. Contrary to popular belief, he who dies with the most ebooks on his hard drive does NOT win. Yet, you see it constantly. Somebody will buy an ebook on some topic related to Internet marketing, read it and then toss it on their hard drive…never to be seen again. Tell me something. Do you have a photographic memory? If not, you might want to take that book out and read it again. This article explains why.

Probably the biggest reason for doing this is retention. You’re going to forget things. I know I do. And if we’re talking about a specific step by step procedure, over time you can begin to forget some of the steps unless it’s something you’re doing everyday. Not every aspect of Internet marketing is taken upon on a daily basis. There are things that I haven’t had to do in months. Suddenly one day comes and I find that I need that procedure again. What was it? Do I have it down cold? If not, it might be a good idea to go back to that book where I learned it and read it again.

But retention is just part of the problem. Another part of the problem is missing something to begin with. Many times, and I know I’m guilty of this as well, we’ll read over a book so quickly that we’ll miss bits and pieces the first time through. Unfortunately, some of those bits and pieces can turn out to be major components of a process. We then attempt to put the process into operation and things don’t exactly go the way we expected. Why? We missed something the first time around. So read the book again. Make sure you go slowly this time. Digest everything you can. If the author knows his stuff, every word has been put there for a reason. Don’t skip them…any of them.

Finally, and this may be the most important thing of all, things change. What worked six months ago might not work any longer. So before you DO take out that procedure and attempt to put it into operation, take a look at that book one last time. Take a look at the date. How long ago was it written? Is it still current? The links in the book…do they still work? If the book is old, it may be outdated. If so, is there an updated copy? Don’t waste your time on things that might not be relevant any longer.

Information is great, but if we don’t have the whole story, have forgotten parts of it, or find that the information itself is outdated, it’s not going to do us the most good.

    Read it again!

    You’ll be glad you did.

    To YOUR Success,
