Internet Marketing Tips – Segmenting Your Lists
Filed under: Home Business, Internet Marketing, Make Money Online; Tagged as: internet marketing strategies, internet marketing strategy, strategic internet marketingNo CommentsHow many lists do you have? Me…I have about 20 or so. You’re probably wondering why. Why would I want to have so many lists especially when they’re all related to Internet marketing and making money online? Well, the answer is simple. The more specialized your list is, the better the chance that you’ll actually sell something to that list. In this article, I’m going to talk about segmenting your list and why it’s important to do it. Hopefully, you’ll get something out of this.
Let’s take the make money online niche because it is so diverse. Let’s start with the most general list of all, the people who are looking to make money online. Now think about this. How many ways are there to make money online? Aside from that, how many different things are involved with making money online? There is so much to learn from advertising to web design. One list can’t possibly cover all those subjects…at least not in any depth. So to cover more topics, you make more lists. But how?
The easiest way is to segment your general list. Doing this is simple. Here’s an example of how I would go about it. In my general list, I would send out a newsletter on the importance of doing niche research in order to find a market to sell to. At the end of the email, I would tell them that if they want to get more info on this topic and get my free report on the subject, simply click on the link below. That link would then take them to an opt in page to get the free report which would then add them to my niche research list. Now I have a list of prospects that would be more interested in any products I have that deal with niche research.
You would do this with every sub topic of your main topic. Now, I realize that this could turn into quite a few lists down the road. That’s why you have to carefully pick and choose the topics you want to concentrate on. For the most part, you want to deal only with topics where you know you have something to sell and a fairly good chance of selling it. There is no point making a list where you have nothing to offer the person on it.
By segmenting your list this way, you end up with more targeted prospects because they are specifically interested in the product that you have to offer for that list. Your conversions will go up as a result.
Try it sometime. You might be pleasantly surprised at YOUR results.
