Internet Marketing Tips – Selling On The Unsalable Days
No CommentsYou hear it all the time. The holidays are dead. The summer is dead. This day is dead. That day is dead. You’d think that the whole year was one big morgue. Okay, I will admit that there are some days of the year that are slower than others. But believe it or not, even on the days that you’d normally think you couldn’t make a sale, if you put your mind to it, you could make a boat load of sales. How do I know this? Keep reading and you’ll find out what I accomplished and how I did it. Yes, you CAN sell on those unsalable days.
As I am writing this article, it is December 25, 2007…Christmas. The worst sales day of the year for the IM “make money online” niche. And yet, as of 12:10 PM this afternoon…I had my best sales day of the YEAR. No, that is NOT misprint. I just had my best sales day of the year and the day isn’t even half over. Okay, you’re probably thinking how I did it. Well, you don’t have to rack your brains out trying to figure it out. I am going to show you EXACTLY how I got my best sales day of 2007…a year where I grossed over $120,000.
The first thing I did was come up with a really outrageous ad. The ad subject was “See What Santa Did To Me This Christmas.” Now, let’s be honest. Curiosity is going to almost force you to open up the ad. That’s just the way human nature is.
The next step was to tell the story of how Santa scolded me for being a Scrooge this Christmas because I wasn’t greatly reducing the prices of my products on Christmas day. I told how Santa put coal in my stocking and I printed the whole conversation between me and Santa. I wrote it in a way that people would just HAVE to keep reading.
Finally, I spring the special on my readers. I tell them that because of the scolding I got from Santa, I am going to make this particular product available at the lowest price I have ever offered it at and then I sprang the price on them. Well, when they saw what it was, knowing what the price regularly is, they just couldn’t help but take advantage of this amazing offer.
The sales started coming in by the case full. I knew this ad was going to work, but I had no idea that it was going to work as well as it did. Too bad it can’t be Christmas every day of the week. The point is, by coming up with a unique ad and lowering my price to a “can’t refuse” level, I was able to convert prospects who might not have normally become buyers.
Some would say that I lost a lot of money. I don’t see it that way. I see it as making money from people who might not have normally purchased from me anyway. Remember, when you’re dealing with virtual goods such as info products, you don’t really lose any money on a sale as there is no overhead. Many marketers seem to forget that.
So the next time the holidays roll around and you think you’re going to have a bad day, come up with a clever ad and make your prospects an offer that they can’t refuse.
You just might have YOUR best sales day too.
To YOUR Success,
Steven Wagenheim
