It’s September 1, 2010. There are only four months left in this year. Do you know what you’re going to do with them? If not, you might want to read this article. It’s never too late to put some kind of a marketing plan into operation. No matter how bad the first eight months of this year have been, there is always hope to salvage what’s left of it with a solid plan. This article is going to try to help you put one together.

First thing you have to do is write down your goals for the last four months of the year. Now naturally, depending on how much success you’ve had the first eight months, these goals are going to be different for each person. But let’s say that you haven’t made any money the first eight months. What you want to do is make your goals small to start with. Yeah, I know…some people say shoot for the moon and then if you fall short you still make something. But that’s also a good way to become discouraged. If you set your goals small, you should make them and won’t end up disappointed.

So, let’s set our goals at a modest $600 a month. That’s only $20 a day, which basically comes down to selling just one ebook per day. Certainly we can make one ebook sale per day. The question is, how are we going to do that? Well, there are lots of ways depending on what your budget is and how many hours you’re willing to put in to make this happen. Yes, this is going to take some work. Anybody who tells you differently is selling you a bill of goods.

Let’s take paid advertising first. If we use AdWords and want to make $20 a day and still turn a profit, assuming our ebook converts at 2%, that means we need 50 clicks a day to make one sale a day. Well, if we can get those clicks at 10 cents a piece, that’s only $5 a day to make our $20 ebook sale. That still leaves us a profit of $15 per day or $450 a month. It’s not a fortune, but it certainly beats making nothing.

But what if we don’t have money to spend on AdWords? Well, in that case, the only way to get traffic to our offer is to generate it manually. There are several ways we can do this. We can use article marketing, social networking and just good old fashioned SEO. Let’s take article marketing. If we write one article a day and that article brings us 100 views and a CTR of 30%, that means we get 30 clicks per day. That means it will take two days to make our one sale. So, if we want to make a sale a day, we are going to have to write two articles per day. If each article takes an hour to write, that’s only two hours per day that it will take us to reach our goal.

Naturally, the above is hypothetical. You will actually have to examine your own product and its conversion rate, if you even know it. Point is, this is what you have to do in order to get some idea of where you want to be. Put together a simple plan and execute it and you’ll find that things aren’t really as hard as you think they are.
