Internet Marketing Tips – Stretching Your Advertising Dollar

Let’s be honest here. It doesn’t matter how great your product or service is. If nobody knows it exists, you’re not going to make any sales. Well, getting people to know that you’re out there comes down to one thing and it’s called advertising. I know it’s a dirty word, especially for people who don’t have much of an advertising budget, but it is crucial to success. Without it, you might as well just go back to working a nine to five. Fortunately, there are many ways to stretch your advertising dollar without stretching your wallet too much. This article is going to cover a few of those ways.

The best way to stretch your advertising dollar is to stay away from Google Adwords until you know exactly what you’re doing. Adwords is a very effective form of advertising but can also be very expensive. For example, many marketers don’t know to turn off the ads for content pages. Why would you want to do this? Because content pages are notorious for getting clicks that don’t convert to sales. This is wasted money. And this is just one part of Adwords that you need to be aware of. So until you are an Adwords expert, stay away.

Okay, so if Adwords is out, what’s in? What’s a cost effective form of advertising that actually works? Well, one of the best is through article submissions to directories. The cost is nothing more than your time. There are many article directories out there that you can submit to. Or you can submit your articles directly to an authority site. Many of these sites are hungry for content because they know that content is what makes the Internet function. A 400 word article can be written in less than 30 minutes and won’t cost you a cent.

Another great way to stretch your advertising dollar is through forum participation. While you can’t directly promote in most forums, by establishing a presence, people will get to know you, get to trust you and eventually buy some of your products. I have been making a very nice income just from hanging out at forums for years now. It works very well.

Okay, but what if you actually want to spend a few bucks? What’s some great advertising that costs money outside of Adwords and doesn’t cost a fortune? The answer is solo ezine ads. The trick is to find an ezine that has a large membership and is targeted to the niche you’re in. In many cases, a $20 solo ad can bring in 10 to 20 sales. I’ve been using select solo ads for years with some great results. You just have to search carefully for the gems. And trust me, they’re out there.

The point is, you don’t have to spend a fortune to make money online. My monthly advertising budget is about $200 and from that I earn five figures every month.

Not a bad return, wouldn’t you say?
