I hear it every year. “It’s Christmas. Are sales down? Is anybody making any money?” I don’t know who started the rumors that you can’t make money during the holidays because it is simply not true. The holiday season sees people spend more money than during any other time of the year. The key is simply having something that people want and making them an offer that they’d be foolish to pass up. This article is going to focus on those two things and hopefully give you some ideas for this Christmas season.

Let’s first start with giving people something that they want. The first rule of marketing anything at all is that you can’t sell things that people have no use for. This is true no matter what time of year it is. That is why niche research is so important. You need to know what people want and why they want it. You have to know what hot buttons to push. If you don’t push them correctly, no sale. It’s that simple. So you have to look at YOUR business and see what it is you have to offer and if it really fills a need and solves a problem. If it does, it’s going to sell no matter what time of year it is.

Of course during the holidays, people want specials. Now, if you’re selling your own products and services, this is easy to pull off. Just take one or two of your products and run a sale. Maybe sell it for half off the regular price. You’ll be surprised at how many people will buy things if it’s priced just right. Running specials during the holiday season is a great way to make those sales.

But what if you’re selling affiliate products? You can’t reduce the price because it’s set by the merchant. However, you can offer bonuses and other incentives. I’ll sometimes offer a week of mentoring when I sell affiliate products during the holidays. Again, you’d be surprised how many people will jump on these deals.

It’s really not hard to sell during the Christmas season if you have something that people want and either sell it at a special price or add some bonuses or incentives to it.
