Internet Marketing Tips – The Disclaimer
Filed under: Home Business, Internet Marketing, Make Money Online; Tagged as: internet marketing strategies, internet marketing strategy, strategic internet marketingNo CommentsThe disclaimer…oh how we’d be in deep trouble without it. I’m not just talking about the actual written disclaimer that you find on sales pages. I’m talking about in every little thing that you say and do online. See, we live in a lawsuit happy world and today there are people who are just looking for a chance to take you for every dime you have. So forgetting about sales pages, for now anyway, let’s take a look at where else you might want to be careful about what you say.
One place where people seem to think they can get away with saying just about anything, is at the forum. After all, most people hide behind some user name like member2188975 or something like that. Nobody knows who you are, which makes it very easy to spew out just about any nonsense that you want. However, make no mistake about it…the forum owner has information about you that he CAN use to find out just who you are. And if you go around making claims that can’t be substantiated, you just might find yourself in a boat load of trouble.
Then of course there is your personal communication through emails. If you’re sending out a newsletter or even just personal emails to people who contact you, making bold claims about your product or service can land you into just as much trouble. After all, if these people know how to contact you (and with autoresponder companies you have to supply a physical address) they know how to make trouble for you as well if you lead them down a road with nothing but a dead end sign at the end of it. Whenever I write to anybody, I make it very clear that there are NO guarantees. The results they get will depend on the effort that they put in and their ability to use the information correctly.
The anonymity of the Internet lulls people into a false sense of security when it comes to what they say and do online. Don’t allow yourself to be drawn into that trap. It isn’t worth the trouble that you’re going to land yourself in if one of your “customers” doesn’t get the results that you promised from your latest wonder product…whatever it is.
Disclaimers…use them or risk the fallout.
