As much as we like to focus on what we sell to others, as marketers, we sometimes also need to purchase items in order to either run our business or get some additional education. What many marketers are not aware of is that many of the sales pages that we go to have some fine print associated with them that if ignored can lead to some pretty sticky situations financially. This article is going to alert you to and warn you of some of the types of fine print that you’re libel to run into…that’s if you even bother to read it. Hopefully, after reading this article, you will begin to read those sales pages from top to bottom. And I promise you one thing…there is no fine print in this article.

The first type of fine print you’re going to run into, and maybe the most dangerous, is the membership site fine print. This is where you see some sales page that tells you that you can get membership to such and such a site for 30 days at no cost to you. What the sales page doesn’t tell you in the large print, but does so in the fine print, is that after 30 days, if you don’t cancel the membership, you will begin to be charged for the membership at the regular price. One way to know that this is probably going to be the case is if at the time of signup, they ask you for your credit card information. If they do, you can just about bet that after 30 days you will be charged. So if you don’t read the fine print, at least be aware of this when they ask for your credit card information.

Another place where they hit you with the fine print is when they’re selling informational packages. Many of these sites will have fine print at the bottom of the page that says something like, “Along with your package you’ll get one free issue of such and such magazine.” What they don’t tell you is that if you don’t cancel you subscription to this magazine before they send you the next issue, you’ll be charged for it. And again, they’ll have your billing information from the informational product that you just bought from them. So please make sure that you are aware of this.

Basically what it comes down to, and few people like to do this, is that you MUST read the sales page in its entirety, fine print and all. Otherwise, you have no idea of what hidden charges you’ll be hit with months down the road.
