Internet marketing can be one tangled web. It is so easy to get caught up in simply making a buck that we through all else out the window. Well, I’m not here to pass judgment on anybody, but perhaps you might want to consider what you’re doing to promote your products and services and the impact that your methods just might have on your reputation, if not your bottom line.

The forest is the whole picture. That’s your whole business. It’s everything that you do in order to earn an income online. It includes your products, articles, methods of promotion, even the way you handle customer service. Some people think that a forest can survive even if some of the trees are rotting away. But the truth is, every bad tree in your forest is going to eventually spread and destroy the entire forest.

As an example, let’s say that you rely on article marketing for a large part of your traffic and suddenly one day, the search engines have a big shakeup and all your articles are suddenly nowhere to be seen as far as Google or any search engine is concerned. That will translate into a huge drop in income. However, had you spread your promotional resources out, the loss of one avenue would not be as detrimental.

But what about the snake pit? That is where all marketers who don’t have a cohesive plan end up. See, running a business is hard work. Running a successful business is even harder work. It takes planning, creative skills, writing skills, finances and a number of other things to pull it off successfully. Drop the ball at any point along the way and the ripple effect can be devastating. It’s that old rotted tree taking down your whole forest.

Point is, if you want to have a successful business, nothing can be left to chance. You can’t slack off at any point along the way, which means a solid foundation, sold products, solid marketing and most of all, running your business with integrity and honesty.

Failure to do even one of these things can land you in that snake pit faster than you can possibly imagine.
