    Internet Marketing Tips – The Real Truth About Buying Leads

    A question I often get asked is, “Should I buy leads?” Fair enough question. And certainly, if you’re just starting out, it’s one that you’re going to have. Even I asked this question when I first began marketing over six years ago. The answers I got then, quite honestly, didn’t help me much. So hopefully, based on my many years of experience, the answers that I’m going to give YOU will help a lot. Keep reading to find out the real truth about buying leads.

    Contrary to what a lot of people say, buying leads is not an automatic disaster waiting to happen. The problem is finding a lead generation site that is worth its salt. There are two reasons why this is so hard. I am going to cover both of them in this article.

    Reason number one is because a lot of sites harvest their leads. In other words, they are not legitimately collected. Most of these people don’t even know that they’ve been harvested. What ends up happening is that the marketer who buys these leads ends up spamming them. They don’t know that they are, but they are. And this can lead to a boat load of problems…not the least of which is getting your ISP to shut you down. That is not a fun thing.

    Reason number two is, even if the leads are legitimately collected, you, as the buyer, don’t know what these people were looking for. Were they looking for business opportunities or were they looking for some kind of acne cure? Most of these companies will not tell you. They’ll just have an ad that says something like, “Buy 10,000 high quality leads for just $100″ or something crazy like that. High quality according to what criteria? If you’re trying to sell somebody on your book that talks about boating and these people are looking for video game tips, you’re not going to make many sales.

    So, if you are going to buy leads, and this is something I just don’t do anymore because it’s just too time consuming to try to find a good source, you MUST make sure that the leads are properly collected and that you can find out exactly what these leads are looking for. Also, look for a company that will take the responsibility of emailing the leads for you. This greatly reduces the risk that you take.

    I’m not a big supporter of buying leads, but if you can find a good lead source, these leads CAN bring you in a substantial income.
