Internet Marketing Tips – The Relationship With Your List

The relationship you have with your list will determine almost all of your communications with that list. What kind of a relationship do YOU have with your list? Do you even know? Truth is, most marketers don’t know what kind of a relationship they have with their subscribers because they don’t take the time to actually form one. They mindlessly go through the ritual of sending one email after another pitching everything under the sun. All they care about is the bottom line…how much money they make off their list. Trust me, it’s not the way to go.

Before I go on, let me say this, the relationship I have with my list is not the only way to go about it. I am not going to dictate what you should and shouldn’t do. I am only going to share what works for me. You can use these ideas or dismiss them. The choice is yours.

First thing I do is make sure I don’t just pitch my list a bunch of products. I send them quite a few articles on a variety of subjects to try to help them with their marketing. Sometimes I think I give them too much info, but that’s my problem. I’m sure they don’t mind.

Next thing I do is invite them to write back to me if they have any questions or need anything at all. If you look at a lot of emails you get from the lists that you’re a member of, you will notice that very few of them invite feedback. I always do. This is where I develop personal relationships with my subscribers. Speaking of which…

I have no problem sending my subscribers an email about something personal going on in my life. Just recently I wrote to them about my mother, who just recently passed away. I received many emails back with prayers for her. This shows me that I am connecting with my list on a personal level.

You’re probably wondering why this is important. It’s important because a subscriber is more likely to trust you if they have a personal relationship with you. More trust usually means more sales down the road. Speaking of sales…

I always let my list know, before anybody else, any special sales that I have going on. This makes them feel like they are special. As a matter of fact, some sales are only available to my list members. You won’t find them anywhere else on the Internet.

Ultimately, the relationship that you have with your list will greatly determine the success that you have with that list.
