Yeah, the secret to Internet marketing success is finally out. I’ve tried to keep it under wraps for as long as I could, but it was a no win battle. If you’ve missed it, don’t worry…I’m going to reveal that secret in this article. But you have to make me a promise. You have to promise that you won’t tell anybody. The reasons will be clear when you’re finished reading this article. Okay, so what is the secret to Internet marketing success?

It’s called hard work.

Ouch…did I just say the dirty four letter word “work?” Yes, I’m afraid I did. I can see the stones being thrown at me as I’m writing this. Maybe I should just get back in my bunker and hide until the stoning is over.

Okay, let’s get serious here. You’re probably wondering why I’m writing this very tongue in cheek article. Well, it’s in response to yet ANOTHER email I got from somebody who wanted to know if I could give them some kind of automated system for making tons of money online so that they could just hang out on the beech all day while the cash comes pouring in. I get about one of these a week it seems.

What is it with people? Are they so against working? I mean, if I could just lay out on the beech and do nothing all day, I’d be bored after a while. I enjoy getting up in the morning and cranking out a couple of articles. It keeps my brain from turning into mush. They say that the more you use your brain the less likely it is that you’ll get Alzheimer’s disease.

But it’s not really JUST hard work that brings success. It’s SMART work. See, you can work hard, but if you work hard at the wrong things, you’re not going to get ANYWHERE. So you have to learn to work smart. That’s the key. How do you do this? Well, if you’re first starting out and don’t know a blessed thing, the best thing you can do is get yourself a mentor…somebody who can help you put together a business plan. Trust me…in the long run you will save yourself a lot of grief.

If you can’t afford a mentor and have to go the ebook route, get recommendations from people you trust. Read reviews of the products. Look for reviews that aren’t followed by an affiliate link. You want unbiased reviews…if you can find them.

Finally, once you have a game plan in place, work on it religiously. I don’t care how lousy you feel when you wake up in the morning. Discipline yourself to do a certain amount of work each day. You don’t have to do it all at once. Rome wasn’t built in a day and your business doesn’t have to be either. Just do something each day and eventually you’ll get there.

Sorry to have to say it, but the secret to success is hard and SMART work.
