    Internet Marketing Tips – The Six Inches Between Your Ears

    You know what drives me nuts? All the people who write to me and say stuff like, “Hey, can you give me a few good tips on how to promote my web site?” If people would just take the time to sit down and do a little thinking, they’d realize that the answers are all in front of them. The six inches between your ears may very well be the most important piece of real estate when it comes to coming up with ideas for marketing your products and services. Let me explain and show you how easy it is.

    Let me start out by asking you a question. If money was no object at all, what would you do to get the word out about your product? Well, if you’re still scratching your head, turn on the TV. Go put in one of those infomercial stations. Or better yet, just watch a regular show on network TV and watch the commercials in between. Really watch them. What do you see? You see the advertiser screaming benefits at you. They tell you EXACTLY why you should get THEIR product and how incredibly affordable it is. There is nothing subtle about these ads. They scream BUY ME!

    So the first thing you have to do is sit down and think about what you have to say about your product or service that will scream those two words. What’s the main benefit? Why can’t people live without it? What makes what you’re selling better than everything else out there related to that particular problem? Heck, does your product even solve a problem? The only way you’re ever going to come up with answers to these questions is to sit down and think them through. That means using the six inches between your ears.

    Internet marketing is NOT rocket science. It’s identifying a target market with a real problem…one that needs solving desperately. It’s then finding a solution to that problem. If you can’t create it yourself, there is a good chance that somebody else has. And if that’s true, and they’re any kind of a smart business person, they’ll have an affiliate program for that product. That’s your chance to sell it as an affiliate. Just make sure you understand the message that you need to get across to your target market.

    As for the medium to do that, there are plenty of ways. There is paid advertising, such as pay per click, or, if you’re monetarily challenged, there’s article writing. Sure, it takes a little longer, but if you do your market research and understand who you’re writing for and how to communicate with them, you’ll do fine.

    It all comes down to the six inches between your ears.

    Use them…before they atrophy into oblivion.
